Wiersze w Metrze campaign is back home …

13 Dec

… and slowly coming to an end. Our memories from Tokyo are full of friendly and well-wishing people attending the opening and the Spoke’N’Word Festival on Tour. You can read more about the second event on this photoblog. As for the campaign in Beijing – it was mentioned in TVP1:

Right now we are focused on sorting out the winning Haikus from all over the world and delivering them to the commuters of Warsaw Metro as well as our internet followers. We also kindly invite you to the Wiersze w Metrze finishing party which is connected with the regular poetry slam in Powiększenie Club in Warsaw. The entry is free and we expect some extra surprises for the audience. See you there !

From Ukraine With Love

12 Oct

That is exactly how we came back from Kiev. We will long remember the warm welcome which the city gave us. Starting from great amounts of press and general interest at the launch of the campaign and finishing with the stories we have heard when we were finishing the campaign. Kiev citizens stopped to tell us personally how they enjoyed their everyday dose of poetry in the metro as well as in the parks. We have finished with a big bang – Spoke’N’Word Festival at Divan where a local slam and Polish performances generated screams and shouts.
Next stop – Beijing !

After Paris comes Madrid

5 Sep

After leaving a big dose of Polish poetry in Paris Metro (see the Odéon station while you still can !) we are leaving for Madrid, where just in a couple of minutes the official launch of the campaign will take place. This time we have invited Julia Hartwig and Edward Pasewicz for the poetry meeting at the Polish Embassy.

During the campaign in Madrid (from the 5th to the 18th of September) you will be able to see Polish poetry on the metro, take part in our Haiku competition and join us at the Spoke’N’Word Festival at Cafe Libertad 8.
Stay with us !

Poetry from Poland in Paris

22 Aug

Poetry from Poland is now ready to invade the City of Light. The official opening of the campaign will take place on Wednesday the 24th of August at 5 PM at the Polish Embassy in Paris (by invitation only). The poets to open up the campaign in Paris are Krzysztof Siwczyk and Marcin Sendecki.

Keep your eyes open for all the Polish poems that will pop-up here and there in the Paris metro as well as in the public space of the city. Make sure that you post at least one Haiku for our Haiku competition and get ready to attend the Spoke’N’Word Festival in Paris. The campaign in Paris will last from the 24th of August until the 6th of September. Read more about it on our website.

And here you can see how it was in London:

Time for Poetry from Poland to hit the English Channel

18 Aug

Two very busy weeks in London are slowly coming to an end. These are also the very few last days to send us a Haiku and win prizes in our competition.
The final round of the Spoke’N’Word poetry slam has seen the duel between a British poetess Vanessa Kisuule and Polish born and bred Gil Gilling. The female particle came out victorious this time. You can see the pictures from the event on our Facebook site and soon on our website.
Remember – these are the last few days to wander around London and read Polish poetry on the tube or in Regent’s Park. London – thanks for having us ! Paris, you’re next …

London calling

1 Aug

It is time for the campaign to hit the road and look for new opportunities outside Warsaw. Wiersze w Metrze – poetry from Poland will find its temporary home in London, United Kingdom. From 8 to 21 August, 2011, Londoners and London visitors will have a unique opportunity to become acquainted with contemporary Polish poetry. The events in London include the presentation of selected poems by thirty poets on the London Underground, poetry installations in Regent’s Park (with a special exhibition devoted to Czesław Miłosz), Spoke’N’Word Festival on Tour showcasing performance poets from Poland and many more attractions.

The best way to start your adventure with Polish poetry in London is to join us during the campaign launch / poetry evening with Polish poets Agnieszka Wolny-Hamkało and Piotr Sommer in conversation with Mark Ford on the 8th of August at 5.30 PM in The Embassy of the Republic of Poland, 47 Portland Place W1B 1JH, London. See you there !
